Like so many others, Emily and George’s wedding plans were disrupted due to the coronavirus. When we initially began planning florals for their wedding back in January 2020, it was to take place in Athens, Georgia with all of their friends and family. Four months before their wedding day, they made the difficult decision to move their wedding to Emily’s hometown of Nashville Tennessee. Not only were they moving the wedding to a different state, they needed to downsize their guest-list significantly. Shortly after they made the decision to move their wedding, I met them and their wonderful wedding planner Caitlin of Whitewood Events at their new venue in Nashville. We explored The Cordelle and dreamed up new ideas for the florals to fit the new space. Everything from the color palette to the reception details needed another look. Despite the circumstances, everyone was joy-filled and excited for what was to come.

For Emily and George, we went with a pastel color palette which was so refreshing for a fall wedding. It brightened up a cold, rainy day in Nashville and suited Emily’s joyful self perfectly. The bouquets for Emily and her best girls were lush, soft, and truly some of my favorite bouquets of all time. For the ceremony, we designed an organic arch to frame the couple as they said their vows. The aisle was adorned with flowers that later were used on the stage in the reception. My favorite part of the reception were all of the candles and the jasmine vine winding through all of the centerpieces. It was magical, and you’d never know by looking at the pictures that the wedding was supposed to be anywhere but there.

The moment I’ll never forget is when Emily came up to me before the ceremony and told me everything was perfect. She went on about her bouquet and how much she loved it. She said so many kind things about me as a person and a designer. The way she made me feel in that moment is something I’ll treasure forever. The day was a joy in so many ways, and I’m forever thankful for Emily, her precious mom Sukie, and Caitlin from Whitewood Events for being nothing but kind and encouraging through the whole journey.

THE FLOWERS

I purchased the flowers through the Nashville Flower Market. We chose hellebore, butterfly ranunculus, standard ranunculus, a variety of roses, astrantia, scabiosa, carnation, stock, larkspur, jasmine vine, smilax, delphinium, snowberry, lisianthus, a variety of dried and bleached textures, and greenery clipped from my garden.
